What She Does at Thinkwell
Kathleen is a communicator at heart, fascinated by what makes people tick. She’s spent over a decade consulting with clients in the private and public sectors, including Fortune 500 brands and sitting legislators. Her intuitive nature and independent problem-solving skills serve her beautifully at Thinkwell Creative, where she pairs her love for the written word with an uncanny knack for messaging strategy, all to help brands share their best stories.
Early Life
Kathleen’s childhood was a packed schedule of swimming victories, fossil hunting, and theatrical escapades. A Backstroke state champion with a penchant for collecting ancient rocks, Kathleen split her time between the pool, the stage, and the creek beds of Kentucky, all serving to fuel her early suspicion that the best stories are hiding just below the surface.
Education and Career
A Kentucky Governor’s Scholar, Kathleen went on to study English Literature & Letters (with a minor in Environmental Studies) at Centre College, a rigorous liberal arts college in the heart of the Bluegrass. Upon graduation, Kathleen dove headfirst into political media consulting, spending the next decade working campaigns at the local, state, and federal level, and quietly becoming the person candidates call when things go sideways.
Career highlights include winning an international Bourbon marketing award, launching a Louisville lifestyle magazine, and coordinating Barbara Kingsolver’s first Books-in-Progress Conference. Today, she brings her storytelling brainpower to Thinkwell, and we couldn’t be happier to have her bright mind in the mix.
Personal Life
When she isn’t busy crushing all things communications, Kathleen is rehoming stray cats, watching anime, or triumphantly re-reading one of her favorite novels. Home base for her and her husband, Brandon, is a 1930s country cottage on the edge of a nature preserve in a beautiful, quiet Kentucky town. We’re talking horse country, farmland sunsets, and a small downtown where her infant son, Bastion, often enjoys a Mexican mango ice cream.
